What is in my Hospital Bag

Are you ready to Pop!??!

I began packing my hospital bag about two weeks prior to my due date. I know some women like to do this a month before hand, but I am a procrastinator and My kids always arrive late...
Being seasoned, I didn't feel it necessary to pack so early.
But do what you need to do to feel prepped and ready!

Here is a peek inside my hospital bag!!

For Baby and Older Siblings:

  • Nursing Pillow
  • Nursing Cover
  • Lanolin nipple cream
  • Nursing pads
  • Baby book (stamp for feet/hands)
  • Going home outfit
  • Gifts for the two big brothers!

For Mama:
  • Tooth Brush
  • Tooth Paste
  • Chapstick
  • Mouth Wash
  • Hair Brush
  • Hair Dryer
  • Hair Ties and Clips
  • Deodorant
  • Dry Shampoo
  • Body Wash
  • Soap
  • Lotion
  • Facewash

Will be adding in a makeup bag as well at last second!
(call me vein but those photos last forever!!!)
  • Towel (hospitals give you basically a wash rag to dry off with!)
  • Robe
  • Slippers
  • Nursing night Gown/PJs ( I prefer this because your bleeding and way uncomfortable so pants just weren't an option!)
  • Skip the underwear! (You will be wearing this awful get up and your own "diaper" for a while).
  • But don't forget a nursing bra!
  • Eye Mask (Because they leave the lights on and sleeping is next to impossible!)
  • Sandals to shower and walk around

ADDITIONAL ITEMS:
  • Phone
  • Phone charger
  • Camera
  • Camera Charger
  • List of people to call (*if your that organized* haha)
  • Snacks for hubby and kiddos
  • protein bars/shakeology for energy (Remember you will be running a marathon!!! ---- unless your one of those lucky women WHO I HATE... (ok not really) but your labor is more like a sprint)

**DONT FORGET GOING HOME CLOTHES!**

Personally I like prefer loose fitted clothes for this one!! Especially loose fitting pants/sweatpants.

  • I also have piano/spa music downloaded onto my phone so I can listen to some relaxing tunes while I labor (I have done this with all my kids so far and it has helped)

GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU MAMAS!!!

Many prayers and blessings on the delivery of your little munchkin! <3 font="">

Resurrection Rolls

It is very important to me to teach my kids the true meaning of Easter.

After all, this is the holiday that our entire life and being is based on.

We would not be saved or have a chance at everlasting life if it weren't for Jesus's death and resurrection.

This is the holiday where we recognize that we are sinners! We could never measure up to God.  We could never do enough good deeds, or climb that ladder high enough to be "worthy" of Gods love.

But Easter weekend God sent his Son Jesus to die for us!  To die for You and Me, because we ARE sinners!  Because we ARE good enough for him, the way we are.  He died for us, as screw ups.... Not because we are worthy of it or deserve it- but because He LOVES us and wants to give us a chance at everlasting life!

All we have to do is accept his gift, and acknowledge that we want Him to sit on the throne of our lives!

So this weekend I wanted to show our kiddos a visual of the true meaning of Easter through using food.

This is a really cool easy project to show your kiddos how great our God is!

All you need is crescent rolls, melted butter, cinnamon, sugar, large marshmallow and your bible!

Set oven to 350

**Read Matthew 27: 57-61**

1. Give each child a marshmallow.
This represents Jesus.

2. Have him/her dip the marshmallow in melted butter.
This represents the oils of embalming.

3. Now dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar.
This represents the spices used to anoint the body.

4. Then wrap up the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll up, but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside)

This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death AND the Tomb in which he was placed.

We then sprinkled a little added "blessings" and Gods Love(cinnamon and sugar) on top

5. Place rolls in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
The oven represents the tomb--while you are waiting for the rolls to bake, read Matthew 27:62-66.

6. Remove rolls from oven and let them cool slightly.
Now the children can then open their rolls (cloths/Tomb) and discover that Jesus is no longer there!

 HE IS RISEN!!

** Now read Matthew 28:1-10**

Diet During Your Third Trimester

THIRD TRIMESTER DIET

As you gear up to meet your little one, don't forget how important your diet is!

third pregnancy, Diet during Pregnancy, Third Trimester, What food to eat while pregnant, Vitamins and Pregnancy, Amie DeSanzo, Fearless and Fit, 38 Weeks Pregnant, Fit Pregnancy, Clean Eating and Pregnancy, Healthy Pregnancy, Foods during Pregnancy, 37 Weeks Pregnancy, 36 Weeks Pregnancy, Vitamin K, Vitamin D, Omega 3, Fiber, Minerals, Baby bumpSKIP THE PROCESSED FOODS AND EAT REAL FOOD!!!

Remember.... You are still in charge of what YOU put into your body!!!

You have most of your energy back and its one of the busiest times, getting ready to welcome your little bundle of joy into the world!

In these last couple months your babies brain is rapidly developing!  And you need to help gear baby for the real world by supplying him with the proper nutrients!

Essential vitamins to add into your diet are Omega 3 Fatty Acids- DHA, Iron (paired with vitamin C for absorption), Fiber, Vitamin K, Vitamin D and Calcium (paired together).

The Importance of these Vitamins and Minerals

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega 3 Fatty Acids (DHA) are essential for your baby's brain and eye development.  During the third trimester your babies brain is growing rapidly and needs the additional DHA.

DHA is found mostly in Fish, so consuming, salmon, halibut and other fish is important! (only 12 oz per week, due to your pregnancy)
Other Omega 3 fatty acids include: flax seed, walnuts, edamame, tofu, avocado, eggs, squash, cauliflower, broccoli, kale and cabbage

Iron and Vitamin C

This one is very important not only for baby but YOU!!  Iron deficiency is very common throughout the third trimester and while going through the birthing process.  Your blood volume increases by 50%, and you will be losing that blood during birth.  With the additional blood volume it is important to increase your iron intake to carry red blood cells.
Iron deficiencies could cause preterm delivery and low birth weights.

Iron is also very important to pass on to your little bun in the over to ensure they do not become anemic as well!  The mothers blood passes to the baby and will eventually filter out, however because your sharing, you need to be able to supply him with enough iron as well!
Foods high in Iron include: edamame, liver, brewers yeast, raisins, prune juice, broccoli,
spinach, green peas, arugula, kale, lentils, chickpeas, quinoa

For proper Iron absorption you need to pair your foods high in Iron with Vitamin C. (and avoid calcium intake at the same time- because this actually blocks absorption).

Vitamin C is important for baby because it helps to build up both you and babies immune system.  It also is essential for your cartilage, tendons, bones and skin.  Newborns that have vitamin C deficiencies can have impaired mental development.

Foods high in Vitamin C are: Oranges, Kiwi, Tomato, Sweet Potato, Peppers, Grape fruit, Spinach, Pineapple, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Strawberries, Kale

Fiber

Fiber is crucial for MAMA to be during this time!!!  You will have less and less room for your organs to function properly which can cause you to be SERIOUSLY uncomfortable!!! If you know what I mean!!  Fiber is going to help you GO.... YA KNOW!

Some top fiber foods to consume are: Bran (Wheat bran, Oat bran, rice bran), Cabbage, Apricots, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Berries, Leafy Greens, Celery, Squash, Beans, Mushrooms, Oranges, Figs, Raisins, Apples, Banana

Calcium and Vitamin D

Calcium and Vitamin D are essential for Mama and Baby, and they work best when paired together in a meal!

Vitamin D deficiencies in babies can cause skeletal deformities, due to the softening of the bone.  So it is crucial to get enough vitamin D! So make sure your not only eating it, but get out and get some fresh air and SUN! (of course with some SPF *wink*) This will also help to boost your mood and help to keep you healthy!

Foods to consume that are high in Vitamin D are: Salmon, Sardines, fortified cereals, oysters, eggs, mushrooms, milk, beef liver

Vitamin D also facilitates the absorption of Calcium, so its important to eat these foods together!

Calcium is important for both Mama and baby to keep your bones strong as well!  Calcium can also have an effect on lowering your blood pressure and decreasing the risk of developing serious complications in pregnancy like pre-eclampsia.
Foods high in calcium are: Dark Leafy Greens such as kale, arugula, collard greens, turnips,
spinach.  Low Fat cheese such as Parm, swiss, cottage cheese and mozzarella.  Low fat milk (I prefer almond milk) and greek yogurt, Broccoli, Snap beans, Almonds, and fish such as pink salmon, sardines, anchovies, and shrimp

Vitamin K

Vitamin K is important throughout pregnancy but especially towards the end when you are getting ready to give birth to your little munchkin!

Vitamin K helps with normal blood clotting.  This doesn't mean you need to over consume
Vitamin K, but you need to be getting the normal requirements, which are 90 Micrograms a day.

Sources of Vitamin K are milk, Meat, Yogurt, cheese, Kale, spinach, collard greens.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER

There are countless reasons to drink enough water... but a specific reason during your third trimester is swelling!!!

Your more likely to have swelling in the third trimester and drinking enough water will actually help to flush this out!

Sounds weird since your retaining water....however consuming MORE water DOES actually help!

Also avoid foods high in sodium- which cause water retention.

**Blessings to you on the last couple weeks of your pregnancy!**

*Wishing you a safe and healthy delivery and baby!*

Shakeology and Pregnancy

Healthy Pregnancy Tips, 37 weeks pregnant, Healthy Pregnancy, Fit Pregnancy, Workouts during pregnancy, Clean eating during pregnancy, Prenatal options, 37 weeks pregnant, Baby on Board, Shakeology, Shakeology and Pregnancy, Third Pregnancy
When I first became pregnant I was questioning whether or not it was a good decision to take Shakeology while pregnant.

I mean you usually would stop taking any supplements during this time, however shakeology is not like a normal supplement!

Shakeology is an all natural drink, no artificial sweeteners, flavoring, dyes... it truly is the purest source of nutrients made up of over 70 super foods.  so why question it.... Well if you haven't been pregnant yet... YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU BECOME PREGNANT!
YOU QUESTION EVVVVVVEERRRRRYYYTHINGGGG!!!

There are so many things on the **DO NOT EAT** list-- so you always want to be safe!

SO.... for me, and my lovely morning ... cough cough... ALL DAY... Sickness, I was not really able to even stomach shakeology for a good three to four months anyways.  So the question of taking it, really wasn't an option.

However as I started to feel better, I really missed my shakes and all the energy they gave me.  So I decided I needed to look a little bit more into this!

I was torn, because Shakeology is ALL NATURAL! I mean you really don't have anything to worry about if you eat things all natural, so I kind of thought it was silly of me to put so much concern on taking it.  However with babies you have to just be so cautious, so I decided to look into it a little bit more and then speak with my doctor.

**PRINT OUT THE INGREDIENT LIST AND BRING IT ON IN TO THE DOCS!**

After speaking with my doc and getting back to reality(pre pregnancy brain) and re-realizing that shakeology truly is THE BEST nutrients your body can get- EVEN WHILE PREGNANT, I just tweaked a few things here and there and decided to get back on shakeology train!

Doc said STOP TAKING PRENATAL WHILE ON SHAKEOLOGY AND DRINK YOUR SHAKE WITH A FOLIC ACID SUPPLEMENT!
Shakeology, Pregnancy, Fit Pregnancy, Healthy Pregnancy, 37 weeks pregnant, Healthiest meal of the day, Dessert for Dinner, Clean eating, Healthy Recipes, Pregnancy, Amie Desanzo, Fearless and Fit

It was that easy!!!  No more HUGE HORSE PILLS to take every day!!  Just simple easy nutrition in a glass a day!  Not to mention IT TASTES LIKE DESSERT!
and what PREGNANT mama doesn't like to have some dessert !

So why no prenatal and adding in the folic acid???
When you are pregnant however, you do not want to over load your body with vitamins because certain vitamins like Vitamin A in access can harm your baby- so you cannot be on both the prenatal vitamin and shakeology.  You need to choose which one to be on.
You can alternate days, or just take your prenatal on those days you don't feel like a shake.

On the days you drink your shakeology, you do need to pair it with a folic acid.  Folic Acid helps to protect your beautiful bundle from a serious birth defect that affects the brain and spinal cord.

I would also recommend EATING your folic acids as well!

Here is a great chart of natural sources of folic acids to add into your diet as well!

SO WHY SHAKEOLOGY??

This is my third pregnancy and first go around being on Shakeology.  I can tell you that I have never felt better throughout my pregnancies.

I was so fatigued throughout my other pregnancies, many times sick, I suffered from acne, migraines and other various sicknesses (since your immune system is down).

Not to mention I had way more cravings for that lovely CHOCOLATE AND ICE CREAM!!
**don't get me wrong, I still have some.... and yes still eat it in moderation, But its nothing like it was!**

This time around..... I have been feeling great! (minus the first 3 months or so with morning sickness)

I have had the energy to keep up with my workouts and actually STAY FIT throughout my pregnancy!

I have barely been sick at all! No migraines! Much clearer skin and barely any cravings.

I'd say that is a TOTAL WIN on the Pregnancy scale!!!
I am now only 2 weeks away from delivery and I have gained 22lbs.  I am still working out (while listening to my body) and still have great energy!

I am so thankful I decided to keep Shakeology in my routine this pregnancy!

If your a pregnant Mama and want to know more about this please contact me
I always recommend speaking with your doctor FIRST as I did and then I can get you some Samples to try out!

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy!!
CHEERS TO YOU AND YOUR BUMP !
